Meta Title & Description Preview
Draft a page title and meta description and see an approximate search-result snippet.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers.
How to use this tool
Enter the page title, the meta description and the page address. The preview shows roughly how the result could look in search, on desktop and on mobile, and the counters show the length of each field.
When you are happy with the wording, copy the HTML tags and paste them into the <head> of your page, or into your CMS’s SEO fields.
Questions and answers
Is there an exact character limit for titles and descriptions?
No. Search engines cut titles and snippets to fit the available width, which depends on the device and on the letters used, so wide letters fit fewer characters. Keeping titles to about 50–60 characters and descriptions to about 120–160 characters is a practical guide, not a rule.
Will the search engine show exactly what I write?
Not always. Search engines can rewrite the title link and often build the snippet from the page content when they judge that it answers the search better. A clear title and description make your version more likely to be used.
How accurate is the preview?
It is an approximation. It measures your text against typical desktop and mobile widths, but real results vary with the search engine, the device, the query and any extra features shown. Use it to catch text that is clearly too long or too short.
