Editorial Policy

The standards we hold our articles to.

This policy describes the standards we hold our articles and listings to.

Accuracy and sources

We check facts before we publish and link to the sources we rely on, giving preference to primary sources such as official documentation, standards and original research. We do not publish statistics we cannot trace to a source.

Honest about experience

We only describe something as tested when we have tested it. We do not publish ratings, scores or reviews that are not based on real use, and we say so when an article is based on documentation rather than hands-on experience.

Corrections and updates

When we find an error, we fix it. When an article is substantially revised, it shows the date it was last updated alongside the original publication date. To report an error, use the contact page.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made by our writers and editors. If an article or listing is ever sponsored, or contains links that earn us a commission, it will be clearly labelled.

AI tools directory

Directory listings describe what a product is and who makes it, and link to its official website. Pricing is shown only when we have verified it, with the date we checked.

Use of AI in our work

If AI tools are used to help research or draft an article, a named person reviews the result, checks the facts and takes responsibility for what is published.
